Wildlife Park Internship

Wildlife Park Internship- Spring or Summer

Howell Nature Center's Wildlife Park is home to over 70 animals, most of which are native to Michigan, that cannot survive in the wild. They serve as ambassadors for their species to help teach people how to co-exist with wildlife.

Interns assist in the care of ambassadors, including cleaning and maintaining enclosures, preparing and feeding diets, providing enrichment, observing behavior, and administering medication. Interns also assist with general cleaning and housekeeping duties.

Requirements:

  • Able to work in all kinds of weather conditions, including rain and heat
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to carry 50 lb on occasion
  • Must be working toward a degree in biology, zoology, environmental studies, conservation, or related field
  • Preferred experience working in animal husbandry (not required)

Time Commitment:

  • 16 hours per week for spring internships (February-May)
  • 24 hours per week for summer internships (May-September, flexible with end dates due to school start dates)
