Caregiver Intern

Caregiver Intern (Nursing Student) – Paid Internship

 Location: Miami, FL | Duration: 8-12 weeks (May/June – July/August)
 Compensation: $20/hour ($10/hour paid by employer, $10/hour reimbursed by the program)
 Hours: Full-time (35 hours/week)

We are looking for a dedicated, patient-focused Caregiver Intern to join our team. This role is ideal for nursing students who want hands-on experience in home health care. The selected intern will shadow an experienced caregiver in a client’s home, gaining real-world exposure to patient care, daily routines, and the critical role of home caregivers in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with Personal Care – Help with daily activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility support.
  • Shadow a Professional Caregiver – Observe and participate in real-life caregiving scenarios in a client’s home.
  • Monitor & Document Client Progress – Keep track of vital signs, changes in condition, and daily care notes under supervision.
  • Companionship & Emotional Support – Engage with clients through conversation, activities, and social interaction.
  • Household Assistance – Light meal preparation, laundry, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.
  • Medication Reminders – Ensure clients take medications as prescribed (no medication administration).
  • Learn Family & Client Communication – Understand how to effectively report observations to families and supervisors.

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Current Nursing Student (must be actively enrolled in a nursing program).
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) certified in Florida.
✔ Must have completed all required continuing education credits for CNA/HHA certification.
✔ Ability to pass a Level II background check, as required for all employees.
Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor with a strong desire to learn.
Reliable transportation to travel to client homes in Miami-Dade County.
✔ CPR & First Aid Certification preferred.
