Innovation Center Data Management Internship

Innovation Center Data Driven Services Internship

Candidate should be a Junior or Senior in undergrad studying:

  • Information systems, computer science, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, industrial engineering, digital manufacturing technology, software engineering, or a similar degree.

Candidate should possess the following:

  • An excitement about process improvement, documentation, and a willingness to spend time in an industrial environment hands-on (Innovation Center or lab equivalent).
  • A “team player” attitude that wants to work in a fast-paced, exciting atmosphere.
  • Aptitude and willingness to consistently document and detail results of projects worked on.
  • Preferred experience with data management tools, databases, data analysis, or reporting of data.
  • A plus: experience with AI and using AI in reporting tools.
  • A plus: experience working in an industrial environment, lab, or other.

Goals of the role:

  • Integrating data models for Toolsnet 8 (Atlas Copco Data Software) for our Innovation Center in Auburn Hills, MI, and other sites as applicable.
  • Working closely with our Product Teams on other data-driven service offerings and how we may expand them in the US.
  • Coordinating data collection in Auburn Hills and possibly other applicable sites.
  • Working on a dashboard for connectivity, data modeling, and analysis.
  • Establishing a common database, data collection, and analysis model.
  • Working with other data management platforms as applicable, e.g., OPC UA and MQTT.
  • Establishing a data modeling strategy for Innovation Center test data and reporting.
  • Integrating data analysis based on database models and Toolsnet 8 into project reports.
  • Shadowing teams to understand day-to-day flow, task impacts, and results from IC or labs.
  • Working with Marketing, Sales, and Toolsnet 8 product leadership to understand key value points to create dashboards.

Daily work within the role:

  • Learn the Toolsnet 8 platform and become proficient in it (network requirements, hardware requirements, connectivity, how to use, how to analyze data, benefits, and dashboard use).
  • Work together with teams to get connected and to centralize data.
  • Estimated 30% of the role would be hands-on in lab environments connecting systems.
  • Estimated 30% of the role would be coordination and planning + designing dashboards.
  • Estimated 40% of the role would be working in the Toolsnet 8 environment.
