Natural Resources Intern

The City is hiring a Natural Resources Intern to assist with ecological restoration, water quality projects, and monitoring natural resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Control invasive plant species using various techniques, including herbicide application (training provided).
  • Conduct water quality monitoring and collect natural resources data.
  • Maintain raingardens and native plant demonstration gardens.
  • Occasionally assist with planting, seeding, and volunteer engagement.
  • Operate a City pickup truck for work tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18+ with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license or eligibility for a Minnesota license.
  • Preferred: Enrolled in or completed a degree in natural resources, environmental science, biology, or a related field. Experience in invasive species control, landscaping, or water quality monitoring is a plus.

Work Conditions:

  • Outdoor work in various weather conditions, including weekends and holidays.
