AOT Technical Apprentice III - Traffic Data Collection

The Agency of Transportation is hiring two Technical Apprentices to assist with traffic data collection. These are part-time opportunities that offer a flexible schedule.

This role involves driving a state-owned vehicle for up to seven hours a day to various locations across Vermont to set up automatic traffic counters and install road tubes. Map reading skills are essential, as well as attention to detail for data entry, downloading, and quality checks. On occasion, the position may require assisting with the installation of in-road traffic sensors, which involves some manual labor.

This role is ideal for candidates that are looking to gain hands-on experience in transportation and data collection while working outdoors. With flexible hours and the chance to explore Vermont, this is a great way to build skills in a unique and dynamic environment.

The schedule is 7am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, but can be flexible for candidates. The position will work from May to the end of October, but candidates with more limited availability are welcomed. Starting salary may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of full-time college coursework in science, engineering, environmental studies, or related technical field.
