
Surgery Tech Coordinator
Harney District Hospital is seeking a full time Surgery Coordinator. Surgery Coordinator-Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) prioritizes, delegates, coordinates, and provides allocation of department resources to ensure high quality patient care. In coordination with the Surgery Supervisor makes judgments/decisions and takes action regarding a wide range of issues including instruments, equipment, scheduling, daily staffing and conflict resolution. Collaborates with appropriate disciplines, including Surgeons, Anesthesia, Surgery staff, EVS, Facilities, Materials Management, Radiology and manufacturer reps to maintain Operating Room readiness and high-quality patient care. This position will assist the Surgery Supervisor in overseeing the work of department staff and caregivers in sterile processing, inventory and equipment management, and within the intraprocedural phase of care.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology and the pathological processes. The knowledge and application of surgical principles, aseptic technique and typical equipment used in surgery. Knowledge of computer application software used in surgery and office setting. Knowledge of operative procedures, ability to operate sterilizers and equipment used in the surgery department. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Education and Experience
Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS), CST certification upon hire or completion of a training program for surgical technologists in the US military. Five years of experience as a CST in an acute care multi-disciplinary facility or Ambulatory Surgery Center within the past 10 years. Combined training and experience resulting in learning basic techniques required in performing CST duties.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: Five+ years prior experience as a CST. Previous coordinator experience.
