Junior Design Engineer

We are seeking a Junior Design Engineer to perform inspection and assist in performing structural analysis and design of buildings and bridges leading to the production of construction documents, and coordination with other disciplines under the guidance of our Senior Engineers.  The ideal candidate is someone who is well-rounded, passionate to learn, and shares our vision of making our firm distinct form the others. 

TYPICAL PROJECTS

  • Design of new buildings and industrial structures
  • Evaluate existing building for retrofit
  • Conduct inspection of buildings, bridges, and fall protection equipment

RESPONSIBILITIES

Junior Design Engineer will be responsible for the following under the guidance and supervision of our senior engineers but may be assigned additional duties as needed. 

  • Conduct onsite inspections, field data gathering, and prepare field engineering sketches and reports.
  • Perform structural analysis, calculation and design using current building codes and standards.
  • Prepare and review drawings and specification.
  • Respond to plan checks to obtain building permit.
  • Provide post-design support service including respond to plan checks and perform site inspection.

Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scope.  

REQUIREMENTS

In addition to an understanding of the field of civil/structural engineering, candidates must possess superior organizational skills, attention to detail and excellent customer service.

We are seeking candidates that have completed or demonstrated the following:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Knowledge of subjects in concrete, wood, & steel.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD, RISA, & SAP2000
  • Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, & Outlook
  • 1-3 years of experience in Civil/Structural Engineering a big plus
  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative design
  • Detail-oriented person who can juggle multiple tasks.
  • Team player with the confidence to take the lead when necessary, from project planning, design, to project completion.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights, including tasks that require walking or standing on platforms above ground level for structural inspection.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time to support business needs as required.

 COMPENSATION

Compensation consists of a competitive salary depending on experience level.  Full-time exempt employees with Baseline Designs, Inc. are also eligible for the benefit package which consists of:
