Why SLP?
The Stanley Black & Decker Leadership Development Program (“SLP”) is a high-profile rotational program that is an integrated process for accelerating the development of our future leaders. It is geared toward recent graduates with Human Resources internship experience and a relevant business degree with a passion for a long-term career in Human Resources and People Operations.
Commercial Sales SLPs work in three rotations over two years including experiences within Retail Sales, Commercial & Industrial End User Sales, and Sales Support at different locations across the United States. Each rotation will allow participants to become familiar with how we do business and go-to-market.
The program offers invaluable experiences for early-career associates seeking challenging developmental opportunities to jump-start their careers.
The Job:
Throughout the program you’ll have the opportunity to support the Commercial Sales Function with key rotations and initiatives including:
- Retail – Work onsite within retail stores learning how to operate within a dynamic environment, gaining product knowledge and driving End User Sales and Engagement. You’ll be responsible for store presentations to Key Decision Makers recognizing sales and service opportunities; training and educating store associates to Drive End User Sales and deliver top line sales goals and daily Job Site Visits to drive End User Engagement.
- Commercial & Industrial – Learn how to engage with the professional end user with the opportunity to learn the process of End User Development. How to execute the purchasing process and how to align efforts with the local market teams, product managers, local distributors, and service centers.
- Sales Support – You will provide operational and analytical support to the Tools & Outdoor sales teams in collaboration with cross functional teams such as Product, Brand, Channel, Operations and Finance to develop and execute strategic initiatives to maximize sales and profitability.
The Person:
You love to learn and grow and be acknowledged for your valuable contributions. You’re not intimidated by innovation. You also have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Communications, Psychology, Business or related majors.
- Demonstrated leadership experience paired with strong academic background.
- Recent graduates or early career professionals with less than 2 years of professional experience (including internship/co-op experiences)
- Capable of handling, training on, and demonstrating our products, including the ability to lift up to 50lbs. Some additional physical labor will be required including climbing ladders and being on your feet for several hours a day.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team without constant direction or supervision.
- Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and interpersonal; presentation and facilitation skills, social media savvy communicator; ability to effectively communicate across potential language barriers
- Demonstrated quantitative, analytical, creative problem solving, and conceptual skills
- Resourceful with ability to navigate the unknown, finding solutions by navigating through internal and external channels
- Excellent networking and collaboration skills; Proven ability to build alliances, influence others, and work in a team environment.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail; Ability to be proactive, prioritize work, and handle multiple assignments in a timely manner
The Details:
- Must be willing to relocate and rotate work assignments, projects, and teams every 6-12 months throughout the program. Relocation for a minimum of one rotation may be required.
- This role will be available in the following locations: Baltimore, MD | Atlanta, GA | Phoenix, AZ | Chicago, IL | Houston, TX
- Willingness to travel and work occasional weekends (8-10 annually)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record screening
- Ability to pass all drug and criminal background checks
- Authorized to work for any employer in the US without the need for employer sponsorship of an employment Visa
