Manager in Training Program

Description

The Manager in Training program is designed to provide exposure to various departments within the company, including Safety, Mining, Ready-Mix Concrete, Asphalt, Dispatch, Sales, Fleet, Procurement, Community Relations, Lab Operations, and Quality Control. This program aims to help participants understand Holliday Rock's core operations and develop the skills necessary for success in a leadership position within this unique industry.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Collaborate with teams across all departments to learn their processes and operations.
  • Develop leadership and problem-solving skills through hands-on training and real-world experience.
  • Visit plants to gain practical experience in operations, quality control, and mining equipment use.
  • Conduct quality control through job site and lab testing.
  • Write detailed reports on experiences, meetings, and external events.
  • Attend cross-department meetings and external events.
  • Propose new ideas to improve current processes.
  • Complete a final project highlighting your strengths at the end of the program.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Mechanical inclined with hands-on tool experience.

Requirements:

  • Recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel (20%) some overnight may be required.

This role involves driving as well as sitting and standing for extended periods. Work will take place in both an office environment and outdoors, which may include exposure to inclement weather. There may also be potential exposure to heavy machinery and active equipment in the field. It is required to wear protective equipment and strictly adhere to safety protocols. Additionally, the ability to lift 25 pounds is necessary.
