Cardiovascular Digital Health Research Training Program

The CardiOvascular Digital hEalth Research (CODER) NIH T32 Training Program at UMass Chan Medical School is currently accepting applications.  The program will  provide a dynamic research training infrastructure for postdoctoral fellows who wish to be independent investigators and team scientists in digital health research. Participants will develop and implement novel solutions directed towards improving cardiovascular health in an equitable manner. The CODER program will provide stipend and other financial support for up to two years with a possible third year through a competitive extension.  

Eligibility requirements - Per the NIH, applicants MUST meet the following criteria:

  • U.S. citizen, noncitizen national of the United States, or permanent resident
  • All trainees are required to pursue their research training full time, normally defined as 40 hours per week
  • Trainees must have received a PhD, MD, DDS, or comparable doctoral degree from an accredited domestic or foreign institution by the start of training. Comparable doctoral degrees include, but are not limited to, the following:  DMD, DC, DO, DVM., OD, DPM, ScD, EngD, DrPH, DNSc, DPT, PharmD, ND (Doctor of Naturopathy), DSW, PsyD, as well as a doctoral degree in nursing research.

Financial support

Stipend support for a Kirschstein-NRSA award Postdoctoral Trainee, childcare costs, tuition and fees and travel. 

Program highlights

  • Thematic Cores: Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Informatics and Data Science, Mobile Health and Point of Care Testing
  • Team based mentoring to provide a supportive, transdisciplinary experience
  • Required and elective didactic coursework tailored to the trainees’ interest and needs in either data science or patient oriented CODER projects (opportunity for Master of Science in Clinical Investigation, MSCI)
  • Professional and career development opportunities tailored to the trainee

Duration of support
Support is up to two years with a possible third year through a competitive extension.
