Under the general direction of the General Manager, the Legal Division CEA directs the Legal Staff for the California Prison Industry Authority (CALPIA). Under the general direction of the Prison Industry Board (PIB) and Board Executive Officer, serves as the legal advisor to the PIB. The CEA functions as a key policy advisor to the General Manager and the PIB on all legal matters and their related program impact. Must be an active member and maintain good standing of the California State Bar.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Experience in Civil Services, Personnel, and/or CDCR/Correctional Law
- Experience in Legislative Policy review and advisement with significant impact
- Project Management experience
- Experience with Boards and Commissions and applying public hearing rules
- Must be an active member in good standing of the California State Bar at the time of selection
In addition to the Standard State Application (STD 678), all interested applicants must submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ). The SOQ is comprised of four factors that address how each candidate's education, training, experience, and skills qualify them for the position. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate's ability to present information in a clear and concise manner. The SOQ must be no longer than two (2) typed single-sided pages. This will be the only tool used for determining your final score and rank on the eligibility list for the position. The SOQ must include relevant examples of experience and be numbered in the order the following factors are presented:
Factor 1: Describe your experience handling complex civil, criminal, or administrative litigation.
Factor 2: Describe your experience in advising staff on administering proper employee disciplinary measures.
Factor 3: Describe your experience analyzing legal principles and precedents and applying them to complex legal and administrative problems.
Factor 4: Describe your experience presenting statements of fact, law, and argument clearly and logically in written and oral form.
