Intervention Specialist

Job Title: Intervention Specialist

Reports to: Director of Special Services

Personal Qualifications: The Intervention Specialist must have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. The candidate should regularly attend an evangelical church, exhibit a mature Christian lifestyle, and fully agree with the school’s tenets of faith and mission. Additionally, the Specialist is expected to live a life of integrity that reflects personal transformation through the Gospel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Scholarship Coordinator, parents, teachers, aides, school administration, and school districts to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Provide direct instruction, intervention, and support to students from preschool through twelfth grade in small groups and one-on-one settings.
  • Plan and implement instructional activities to work toward each student’s specific IEP goals.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress and compliance with state, scholarship, and Heartland’s special education regulations.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum, modify assignments, and provide classroom accommodations per each student’s IEP.
  • Work closely with parents, administrators, and support staff to determine and provide appropriate support to students.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, required Heartland staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Uphold the mission and values of Heartland Christian School by integrating faith and academic instruction.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist license.
  • Experience working in a school setting is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
