Technical Writing Intern

About the Role

As a Technical Writing Intern, you’ll be immersed in the wonderful world of product documentation at CrowdStrike. You will play an integral role in transforming and structuring our content for multi-channel publishing that delivers the right content, to the right user, at the right time. You will also own a small technical writing project, optimize content for reuse, make improvements to generative AI prompts, and learn about CrowdStrike's mission to stop breaches.

What You’ll Do

  • Gain experience with DITA, DocBook, and structured authoring through hands-on project work relating to our information architecture.
  • Work on technical writing projects that will grow your technical writing skills and help you develop a user-centered focus to your writing.
  • Become familiar with industry-standard technical writing tools and processes.
  • Develop an appreciation for style and process guides, and their role in driving consistency and scalability in content.
  • Get exposure to the Software Development Lifecycle Process and how it relates to technical writing deliverables.
  • Learn how to read technical code and translate it to customer-focused needs and requirements.
  • Interact with developers and build knowledge on technical operation of the product and how that impacts customers.
  • Receive mentoring from some of the most accomplished technical writers in the software industry.

   What You’ll Need

  • By the beginning of the internship, must have completed at least 2 years at a 4-year undergraduate university, with a projected graduation date between December 2025 and July 2027.
  • Excellent writing skills, including great sentence structure and the ability to write with a conversational yet professional tone.
  • A portfolio of your work with at least two technical writing samples. Samples may be from university coursework and/or from past internships or other professional engagements.
  • A passion for analyzing complex material and presenting it in an easy-to-understand way.
  • An interest in learning about advanced concepts and tools relating to the field of technical writing.
  • Basic knowledge of machine learning techniques involving large learning models.
  • A strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned work.
  • A willingness to accept feedback and implement it into your work.
  • Willingness to ask foundational questions rather than make assumptions.

 

Bonus Points

  • Experience writing product documentation for a software product.
  • Experience in cybersecurity, such as through a university cybersecurity club or high school programs like CyberPatriot or the National Cyber League.
  • Have tinkered with coding.
