Department Description

The Respiratory & Immunology Research Unit (RIRU) at GSK comprises multidisciplinary biology teams that utilize deep scientific knowledge and technical capabilities to identify and validate novel therapeutic targets and undertake drug discovery efforts from early stage through to phase 1 clinical trials. 

Job Description

Are you a passionate and driven student eager to make a difference in the field of immunological research? Join the Respiratory and Immunology Biology Unit (RIBU) within RIRU at GSK’s R&D in Upper Providence, Pennsylvania. This role offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience in a scientifically innovative environment and to become familiar with the drug discovery process.

Key responsibilities will be to perform biological techniques that include human biological sample handling to be used for in vitro cellular assays. The successful candidate will also contribute to experimental design, the analysis and presentation of data and scientific literature to team members. The student will work in a matrix team environment to support delivery of project and research unit objectives to the highest possible standard.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a graduate degree in Biological Sciences, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in cell based assays (e.g. ELISA or MSD, flow cytometry, imaging, etc).
  • Hands on experience with human blood or cell culture (BSL-2 experience preferred).
  • Ability to design and implement protocols, analyze and interpret experimental data while maintaining accurante/legible records.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 6-month co-op (June ~ December 2025).
  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of, and interest in, Immunology
  • Experience in data analysis software such as GraphPad Prism, R
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Must successfully pass a drug screen and background check prior to assignment target start date.

Benefits

  • While GSK embraces a flexible work environment, we do require certain positions to be onsite. Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position. 
  • GSK Interns and Co-ops are offered a competitive hourly pay rate and benefits. Please note, benefits eligibility determined the month following date of hire.

This job posting is for a temporary role as an employee of Atrium on assignment at GSK. The individual selected for this role will be offered the role as an employee of Atrium; compensation, medical benefits, fringe benefits and other terms and conditions of employment shall be presented by Atrium upon offer. The pay rate range provided is a reasonable estimate of the anticipated compensation range for this job at the time of posting. The actual pay rate will be based on several factors, including skills, competencies, experience, educational degree obtained, location and/or being pursued and other job-related factors permitted by law.

In addition, this role will be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirement.

Pay Rate Range: $21/hr to $40/hr
