Preschool Assistant Teacher
Full Time Assistant Teacher
The person selected for this position will be responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in the general supervision and management of a Toddler, Preschool or School Age classroom.
Qualifications:
- Person selected for this position must be at least 18years of age.
- Able to meet all State Licensing and SUTQ requirements.
- Able to relate well to children and adults
Responsibilities:
Will include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Assist in implementing and on occasion planning the daily program under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
- Assist in preparing the learning environment and prepare needed materials and supplies.
- Supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room or absent.
- Help and / or perform general housekeeping tasks.
- Sanitize toys and materials as directed by Teacher.
- Assist teacher appropriately whenever needed.
- Treat all children with dignity and respect.
- Attend all staff meetings and recommended trainings and conferences.
- Interacts with children on the child’s level such as sitting on the floor, holding a child, nurturing a child and being actively involved in a child’s learning.
- The person holding this position may also have opening and closing responsibilities in which case appropriate instructions would be followed for those duties as well as completion of mandatory trainings.
- Communicates to Director and Teacher any classroom problems as well as issues with parents or guardians.
- If called as a substitute: must respond in a timely manner to accept or deny request of co-worker in need of a sub. If accepting the request: must follow through with designated work hours and responsibilities.
- Responsible for any assignment deemed necessary by the Director.
