Product Design Engineer Intern

Role Overview:

The Product Design Engineer Intern will design a retail or business product enclosure considering industrial design, customer use cases, thermal management, manufacturing processes and cost efficiency. This is a temporary full-time hybrid position with 3 days’ work on-site at our San Jose, CA office and 2 days’ remote. We currently do not offer relocation assistance. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product Design, Product Marketing, Internal Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, and ODM partners to assist with the design of new products or customization of existing products.
  • Create 3D CAD designs of plastic parts, 2D drawings incorporating tolerances, and prototype parts for design validation of projects under development.
  • Assist in the evaluation, performance verification, and documentation of new technologies and designs of products and components.
  • Perform laboratory testing in the areas of force/displacement, life cycle, and dimensional analysis.
  • Support prototype development and testing activities, including assembly, troubleshooting, and analysis.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Currently pursuing a MS/BS in Mechanical Engineering, Design, or other relevant Engineering major.
  • Passion for innovation and a desire to learn and grow in the field of Mechanical Engineering and Design.
  • Experience with Mechanical Design CAD software in Creo, SolidWorks, NX or equivalent.
  • Knowledge from at least 1 upper-division college/university level Mechanical Engineering Design course.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment across multiple time zones.

Compensation

 

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $25-$30/hour. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed in each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, professional background, business need and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range.
