Summer 2025 Application Engineer Intern

 

Schneider Electric has a new opportunity for a Summer 2025 Application Engineer Intern based in Webster, TX working within our TurboMachinery Controls (TMC) engineering team. This position will be full-time for 10 weeks, with potential part-time work in the Fall.

The primary function of the team is to provide control systems for rotating equipment throughout the world.  Primary equipment controlled includes: Steam Turbines, Gas Turbines, Motors, Compressors, Generators, and Pumps.  In addition to control functions, the systems are responsible for starting and stopping the equipment as well as alarming and tripping when the machines are running in an unsafe manner.  The TMC group has both a controls group and a mechanical group (for the interfaces between the machines and the control systems).

What will you do?

  • Work with the assigned engineer and assist with the hardware design and drawings.
  • Assist with the Human Machine Interface (HMI) design and testing.
  • Learn about and assist with programming basic control algorithms.
  • Learn about and assist the Mechanical Engineering team with assemblies and testing.
  • Help on the FAT floor: testing equipment prior to the customer witness test.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

Current student with at least 2 years completed in any of the following degrees:  Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering.

  • Currently local to the Webster or Houston, TX area and able to work full-time in person for Summer 202. This position can not provide relocation support
