Position Summary
This position description has been prepared to assist in evaluating duties, responsibilities, and skills of the position. It is not intended as a complete list of specific responsibilities and duties, nor is it intended to limit duties to those listed.
This full time, seasonal position assists with Land & Water Conservation and the management and upkeep of parks and trail work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
·The majority of work will consist of daily parks upkeep. This includes, but is not limited to mowing, trimming, brush clearing, emptying garbage, cleaning fire pits, and park maintenance.
· Assists in general office duties related to the parks.
·May generate aerial photos for parks and other sites with various GIS layers.
·Assists with special projects and construction as needed within the LWCD.
·Assists with control of invasive and toxic plants in heavy use areas of the parks & trails, including biological invasive species control.
·Assist with county forest management as needed.

·Responsible for working safely and following safety practices and standards of the facility; responsible for reporting any existing or potential safety or accident hazard.
·Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers and others.
· Ability to read plat books and air photos for project completion.
· Provides maps/copies and information to the public when needed.
·Performs related work as required or directed.
Physical Demands
·Ability to walk outdoors for long distances or over difficult terrain in all types of weather conditions, sometimes carrying equipment (5 to 30 lbs.).
·Ability to safely work with hazards, such as construction sites, temperature extremes, noise, fumes.
· Must be physically capable of operating hand tools weighing 5 to 30 lbs
·Ability to sit, stand, and move around for extended periods.
·Proficiency in keyboarding and using office equipment such as computers, printers, and copiers.
·Capable of lifting and carrying light to moderate office supplies.
·Visual acuity to read printed materials and view computers screens.
·Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and perform tasks such as filing and organizing paperwork.
· Ability to communicate with the public and Vernon County staff in-person and on the phone.
·Travel to locations throughout Vernon County
·Involves minimal potential for direct exposure to blood or body fluids.
Education and Training Requirements
·Graduation from an accredited high school or GED is preferred but not required.
·Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with adequate auto insurance to meet minimum County requirements, or access to reliable transportation for city and rural travel.
