JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Admission Counselor (US)
Location: Dubai (UAE)
In the role of a Counselor, you will be assisting students with several aspects of their profile. This organization’s goal is to support all students in securing a seat at the university of their dreams. You will simply be the mentor that allows them to achieve their academic aspirations.
What you will do:
- Academic counseling
- Helping students with course selection
- Supporting students with understanding academic strengths and weaknesses
- Conduct time management practices and training with students
- Advising students on what scholastic/academic opportunities are available and important for their profile
- Professional development
- Building brag sheets and CVs with students
- Developing cover letters with students
- Researching internship, research, external course, volunteer, and other opportunities with the student
- Supporting students with external course and summer program enrollment within their field of interest
- One-on-one mentoring
- Communicating with students in an appropriate and effective manner
- Showcasing empathy with all students and parents
- Supporting students with skill-building discussions and opportunities
- Building a rapport with students to secure trust and respect
- College counseling
- Supporting students through the college admissions process
- Developing required essays with students
- Assisting students with filling out portals and necessary data
- Understanding deadlines and keeping the students and parents informed
- Conducting workshops for students to engage with others while learning relevant information on college applications
- Remaining organized with student data and sharing all work with the management team
- Internal
- Update curated documents by researching upcoming opportunities for students
- Support team with external events relevant to admissions
- Work closely with other departments to ensure coherence and transparency regarding all students
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Essential Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to collaboration.
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and a passion for international education.
- Event planning experience and attention to detail.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, international relations, or a related field.
- Experience living, working, or studying outside the U.S.
- Fluency in a second language (i.e. French, Spanish, Arabic, etc)
Leave: 30 days annual leave
Probation: 6 months
Contract Duration: 2 years (minimum)
Sponsorship: Work-visa / residence permit issued by UniHawk to relocate to UAE
Salary: $32,000-$36,000/yr (There is currently no personal income tax in the United Arab Emirates. As such, there are no individual tax registration or reporting obligations.)
