Compliance and Export Control Specialist

As SAPA Transmission expands its footprint in the USA, we are seeking a Compliance and Export Control Specialist. The Compliance and Export Control Specialist will ensure our operations comply with legal regulatory standards, procedures, and policies, in particular with FAR/DFARS and Export Control: Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Your duties will include overseeing compliance including export control, documenting and evaluating these activities, delivering employee training on these matters and liaising with involved government agencies. To be successful as a Compliance and Export Control Specialist, you should be able to identify issues and recommend solutions. You should also have strong analytical and risk management thinking skills and be able to maintain meticulous records of all compliance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to FAR, DFARS, and other government regulations by monitoring regulatory changes, assessing their impact, and implementing necessary compliance policies and procedures.
  • Conduct internal compliance audits, prepare detailed reports for management, and collaborate with external auditors and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Maintain and organize accurate records of compliance activities, audit findings, and regulatory changes, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams on compliance with FAR/DFARS and government terminology and requirements.
  • Serve as the contact for compliance-related inquiries, offering advice and resolution on regulatory issues.
  • Identify and address compliance risks, research disputes, and evaluate the effectiveness of compliance controls and processes.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in government compliance. 
  • Recommend improvements to compliance processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field. 
  • A professional certification such as Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in compliance, contract administration, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of FAR and DFARS regulations and their application in government contracts.
  • Familiar with filing Electronic Export Information (EEI) in the Automated Export System (AES) and requesting licenses in the Simplified Network Application Processing (SNAP-R) system.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and contract terms.
  • Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and documentation abilities.
