Loan Accounting and Reporting Intern
Reporting to the Manager - Loan Accounting and Reporting, the student will have the opportunity to learn about various functions and take part in initiatives, including but not limited to:
- System conversion work to include loading information into new system and reconciling
- Bank reconciliation
- Posting of payments and delinquency reporting
Suitable candidates must be able to balance competing priorities with various deadlines in a high-stakes environment.
The People You Will Work With
The position will report to the Manager - Loan Accounting and Reporting, and work closely with the Senior Manager - Loan Administration, members of the Loan Administration, Loan Accounting, and Accounting teams, as well as external partners.
Where and When You Will Work
The position will work in the Johnston, Iowa, office of Farmer Mac. Work may be performed during core business hours, Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m. central time, for no less than 10 hours and no more than 20 hours per week during the school year. Consideration will be given for holidays and school breaks.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Strong interest in agricultural markets
- Knowledge of or interest in loan accounting
- Solid MS Office skills, particularly Excel
- Having strong desire to learn
- Must be self-motivated and work well both independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to details are a must
- Successful candidates must share the Farmer Mac values and demonstrate an ability to work collegially and collaboratively
Education and Experience
- Currently enrolled as a rising junior or senior undergraduate pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other quantitative disciplines
- Minimum GPA of 2.89
