Amazon’s Retail Business is growing and we’re looking for tenacious MBA interns who move fast, are capable of breaking down and solving complex problems, and have a strong desire to own, build, and grow. Incoming MBA interns are given ownership of large, important areas of opportunity; the autonomy to think strategically and make decisions; and the ability to drive significant impact to the customer experience and the business. Successful interns flourish in ambiguity and demonstrate nimble leadership.

Participants in the Retail Leadership Development Intern Program (RLD) join Amazon at our corporate headquarters in Seattle. An Amazon summer internship is 11-12 weeks long, consisting of a strategic project that is data intensive, analytical, and centered on a real business issue. RLD interns will have ownership of a high profile project within the Retail organization, where they will partner with key business groups and cross-functional teams clients. By participating in the internship, you will have opportunities to analyze unique business ideas, make data driven decisions and provide input to drive meaningful change. Each intern will have exposure to senior level management and the opportunity to apply general business and retail skills to support successful execution of strategy.

Successful full-time RLDs ultimately become general managers (category leaders) responsible for running large business segments and operate in dynamic retail organizations such as Amazon Fresh, Hardlines Shopping Experience, Toys, Sports, Private Label Fashion, Entertainment and Media, Amazon Business and our flagship Books category. Examples of intern projects include:

§ Launchpad: Drive retention and advocacy with Amazon Launchpad startups by developing a scalable startup facing communications strategy (including prioritization), and executing this strategy by creating the initial content. Effectiveness of the information and content produced will be measured using a survey that will collect a How’s my Driving score (how useful startups found the content) and a Net Promoter Score (how likely they are to recommend us to other startups).

§ US Books: Develop a recommendation for foreign language book growth and selection. Determine the overall financial opportunity, inventory sourcing plan, customer experience, and merchandizing strategy by working with key stakeholders.

§ Lawn & Garden: Evaluate the business case for consolidating holiday-specific (i.e. Christmas, July 4th, etc.) products into one category. Analyze sales curves and develop a playbook for inventory management and merchandising for these micro seasons.

Interning in Amazon’s Retail business is a great way to experience our culture, learn our peculiar business practices, and gain exposure to our full-time RLD program. The RLD full-time program is a 36-month program designed to accelerate your growth into a General Manager within Amazon Retail, leading a billion dollar+ business in 7 years … or sooner.

Basic Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Intellectual curiosity, tenacity, and drive to get stuff done
