We currently have an opportunity for a Trading Administrator to join our Retirement & Private Wealth team in our McLean, VA office.
The selected individual will be responsible for managing the trading desk for the centralized wealth management portfolio and trading platform and will receive trade instructions from advisors for new and existing centrally managed accounts. The Trader will execute trade instructions as provided by advisors and as scheduled for rebalancing portfolios. Types of trades include investing new or excess cash or selling investments to raise cash for distributions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Orion Eclipse Management
- Perform model and security set updates in Orion Eclipse.
- Maintain client target allocation database in Orion Eclipse.
- Manage account configurations in Orion Eclipse to ensure accuracy of accounts to assigned allocation models, cash reserves, and restricted securities.
- Daily review of portfolios out of tolerance, cash needs, and account discrepancies.
- Day to Day Trading
- Execute firm-wide and account-by-account transactions based on model portfolio decisions.
- Process trades for client cash flow needs.
- Prioritize and organize workflow while performing operational tasks and executing trades through each market day.
- Monitor alerts throughout the day to quickly resolve trade-related issues.
- Review end of day reports for any issues that need to be resolved and work to timely resolve them.
- Communicate learnings to Centralized Portfolio and Trading Team
- Platform Support
- Onboard Advisor offices onto the centralized trading and portfolio management platform.
- Generate prospect client portfolio comparison reports for Advisors.
- Maintain models, generate attribution and performance analyses with the use of Morningstar Direct.
- Circulate quarterly performance sheets to Advisors.
- Develop process and procedure best practices for national distribution of the centralized trading and portfolio management platform.
- Perform additional responsibilities and undertake special projects as assigned.
- Additional responsibilities include (but are not limited to) trouble shooting and fixing trading issues and errors when they arise, ensuring that trades settle correctly, ensuring accounts are invested in the correct portfolios, and ensuring that accounts have appropriate cash levels.
Qualifications:
- Required Qualifications:
- FINRA Series 7, 66
- Knowledge of managed accounts business and trading at the book of business level.
- Knowledge of investment management operations and practices including trading and portfolio management software.
- Must have a working knowledge of the financial markets, including equities, fixed income, mutual funds, and ETFs.
- Ability to collect, analyze, synthesize, interpret, and communicate data objectively, quickly and effectively.
- Understanding of investment portfolio theory and construction.
- Detail Oriented, Quick Leaner, Problem Solver
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of trading platforms of LPL, Schwab, and Fidelity
- Proficient in Orion Advisor, focused on Eclipse
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, focused on Excel
- Proficient in Morningstar Direct

The expected salary range for this position is $30.77 to $41.03 hourly and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
