General Accountant
Position Summary: Assists CFO in in preparing and reporting financial statements conforming to principles of accounting and regulatory requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist with VG month-end closing and account analysis for all balance sheet accounts
- Account setup and maintenance
- Financial statement mapping
- Monthly depreciation
- Property tax listing
- Update fixed asset schedule as needed
- Work with auditors related to information need for audits
- Responsible for physical and perpetual inventory
- Responsible for monthly physical inventory for VG consigned goods
- Maintenance of general ledger close monthly and yearly
- Responsible for High Cotton financials and bank reconciliations
- Backup for Assistant Controller
- Completes projects and other duties as assigned by manager
Essential Skills and Experience:
- BS/BA degree in Accounting, Tax, Audit or Finance or related field.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting packages preferably Quickbooks and Profit
- Must be knowledgeable with GL/GAAP/budgets
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to understand and act upon verbal and written instructions.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Excel
Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:
- Knowledgeable in Furniture Manufacturing.
- Professional certification like CPA, CMA, or CFM
Physical demands and work environment:
- Lift / Carry: lift up to 10 lbs. frequently; up to 35 pounds occasionally; more weight requires help or team lifting.
- Standing/Walking/Sitting: Must be able to sit 8+hours and required to walk/stand throughout shift.
