Community Outreach Intern
POSITION INFORMATION
Rate of Pay: $20.00 per hour.
Part-time may include an occasional evening or weekend.
LARPD is seeking a summer intern to support the Community Outreach Department. Applicants should have the equivalent of one year of college credits completed toward a degree. Candidates interested in learning about recreation, volunteer management, community services, communications, content creation, and social media with a government agency will be given preference. Interested candidates should complete an application online. The intern will be responsible for key deliverables while learning about special districts and the Livermore community.
Key duties:
- Visit summer programs to capture video and photo content.
- Draft program highlights and promotional social posts.
- Edit community-facing district-wide videos.
- Assist with district-wide communications, including email newsletters, website, and social media.
- Be the point of contact for Summer Youth Volunteers.
- Assist with volunteer training sessions throughout the summer.
- Oversee volunteer schedule and track volunteer hours.
- Create program completion documents and assist with planning an end-of-summer recognition event.
Key deliverables:
- Maintain volunteer hour tracking and create an end-of-summer recap report.
- Complete summer training and check-in reports.
- Create and distribute volunteer completion certification with hours totals for all summer volunteers.
- Create two to three 30-second videos highlighting LARPD’s impact on the community.
- Capture photo/video content from summer programs.
What learning will occur for the intern?
- Experience managing volunteers and learn how summer programs work in a special district.
- Gain familiarity with volunteer management software and graphic design, including creating infographics and end-of-summer reports.
- Learn to effectively communicate the LARPD brand identity across various channels, including social media, websites, and content creation.
- Gain hands-on experience in managing social media platforms, including creating engaging content, scheduling posts, and analyzing performance metrics.
- Learn website management by assisting with content updates, ensuring functionality, and enhancing user experience.
- Develop skills in video editing software and content creation, including writing engaging copy, designing visuals, and creating multimedia content.
Timing & Hourly Rate:
- June – August, with flexible start and end dates.
- Work hours will be 32-40 hours per week during the 12 weeks of employment with normal office hours and occasional evening or weekend work.
- The pay rate will be $20 per hour.
Pre-Employment Conditions:
- All interns will be required to successfully complete a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and undergo a TB test as a condition of employment.
