The internship runs (10) weeks between (June and August). The specific start/end dates, hours, and schedule will be determined in collaboration between the intern and supervisor.

Main Purpose of Job
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources currently has a Summer Student Worker position available to assist with outreach to Clean Vessel Act Grant recipients (marinas). The primary responsibility of the student worker will be visiting marinas across the state of Maryland to inspect grant-funded boat pumpout systems and verify compliance with grant terms and conditions.
POSITION DUTIES
- Conduct performance tests of pumpout systems at marinas across the state of Maryland.
- Serve as an ambassador to the pumpout grant program - answering questions the marina may have about our grant program while conducting the visit.
- Enter data collected into Access database and Google Sheet.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicant must be a current college student, undergraduate or graduate level.
- A GPA of 2.5 or above is required for academic credit.
- Applicants must hold a valid driver's license.
- Strong verbal communication skills required.
- Candidate must be comfortable on docks and piers at marinas to perform duties.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Fields of Study: Environmental Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Communications, Marine Affairs, or related.
