SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Christ Church Episcopal Preschool is a ministry of Christ Church Christiana Hundred serving children eighteen months through pre-kindergarten. Through a developmentally appropriate play-based and literacy-rich curriculum, we seek to promote a child's full potential – emotionally, academically, physically, and spiritually. The summer camp program director is responsible for the overall planning and management of all our camp operations. This includes staff recruitment and training, the development and implementation of camp programs, camper safety and welfare, following a budget, and communication with parents and guardians.
The director ensures that the camp provides high-quality programs that are fun, educational, and aligned with the mission of Christ Church Episcopal Preschool.

Christ Church Episcopal Preschool educates young children, creates community among families, school, and church, and honors and nurtures children in the Episcopal tradition.
Terms of Employment:
- June 2, 2025 – August 15, 2025 – Full-Time (45 days)
*No Camp the week of July 4, 2025
- Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (400 hrs. +160 hrs. of planning between March, April, May)
- Salary: $20-30/hour, based on qualifications - $11,200 - $16,800
- Reports to: Head of School
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience working with children
- 2+ summers leading a summer camp program
- Program director experience in a licensed childcare setting
- TECE 1 and 2
- Current CPR/FA certification
- Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry
- Tuberculin Test and Physical
- Technology skills and comfortability - Brightwheel, Constant Contact, Microsoft Office
- Mandatory direct deposit of paycheck
- Completion of health and medication administration courses through the University of Delaware and required by the programs licensing authority
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience working with children
- 5+ summers leading a successful summer camp program
- Technology skills including Brightwheel, Constant Contact, Microsoft Office
- A bachelor’s or associate degree in education, program development, recreation
Key Responsibilities
- Staff Management - Recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising all camp staff
- Program Development - Design and implement a diverse range of age-appropriate, engaging, and educational programs and activities.
- Camper Safety and Welfare – The safety and welfare of the campers and staff are the priority of the camp director. Must be able to enforce camp policies and procedures, including emergency response plans.
- Budget Management – The director must manage an established budget and review expenditures, revenue, and expenses regularly with the head of the school.
- Communication – Serves as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians. Provide updates on camp activities and handle inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Facility Management – The director is responsible for ensuring that the camp facilities are maintained in a safe and clean condition.
- Marketing and Enrollment – The director assists the head of the school with marketing the camp and recruiting campers
- Discipline/Behavior Management - Uses Conscious Discipline behavior management and classroom organization; to the exclusion of behavior management that rewards good behavior with food or toys and punishes undesirable behavior with consequences that are embarrassing, punitive, or uncomfortable for the child. Maintains behavior that models respect and responsibility and is in no way physical, embarrassing, or ridiculing for any child.
- Represent Christ Church Episcopal Preschool, professional colleagues, children, and their families with integrity, dignity, and respect.
- Promptly acquire all certifications, professional training, and development as required by law and by Christ Church Episcopal Preschool.
