Position: Business Manager
Location: River Valley Middle High School Central Office
Compensation: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Position Overview
The Business Manager is largely responsible for the financial health and efficient financial management of the River Valley School District. This position provides support to the School Board, Superintendent, and all the Administrators. QUALIFICATIONS
Required
A. Completed two (2) years study at an institution of higher education; OR
B. Obtained at least as associate degree OR
C. MSBO Business Office Certification; OR
D. Path towards MSBO Certification in progress
Preferred
- Has a basic understanding of the business office environment
- Has experience working in a school finance/accounting office (one to three years of experience)
- Has ability to develop positive working relationships with staff and community
DUTIES
- Supervise and monitor the business office and functions related to the office
- Oversee the financial platform (Skyward), including but not limited to seeking efficiencies within the system and school practices, ensuring accurate account structures and reviewing the inputs to provide the most accurate information for the Board and management to make decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with the Superintendent/Administrators to ensure that all financial matters are conducted in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and Board of Education policies.
- Works to ensure that financial laws, regulations, and Board of Education Policies are enforced in alignment with Board Policies and District values.
- Manages cash flow and bank balancing functions
- Submits federal and state grant applications and annual expenditure reports
- Processes cash requests/invoicing for grants
- Works under the general guidance of Superintendent and/or his/her designee in administering the planning and evaluation of functions
- Administering the general ledger
- Preparing financial reporting for the Board, grants, state and audits
- Preparing adjustments to the general ledger and work papers for auditors
- Assists in providing preparation, administration, supervision and control of the budget
- Oversees accounts payable and payroll
- Oversees the following Human Resource duties:
* Financial Onboarding of new employees
* Insurance Open Enrollment
* Employee exiting
- Attends district Board of Education meetings as needed
- Oversees Risk Management/Insurance related issues
- Assist Superintendent with employee compensation related issues, including negotiations
- Works positively and collaboratively with other staff members to continually improve the efficiency and efficacy of the Business Office
- Reliable attendance
- Other duties as assigned
