2025 Supply Chain Internship

Job Description:

This 10-week program located in Compton, CA, will take place on June 2, 2024, to August 8, 2024. Interns will work at various locations in a variety of departments to get a full picture of the supply chain industry. Interns will gain exposure in the following areas:

Experiencing NRS corporate culture by shadowing and collaborating with team members in various departments

 

Sales and Marketing:

  • Shadow sales team from lead to customer
  • Enhance and monitor our CRM system (Salesforce)
  • Participate in sales and pricing calls
  • Creating marketing material and communicating with customers

Data Analytics:

  • Preparing daily operational and managerial reports to develop operational and financial metrics
  • Participate in all operational KPI calls

Pricing:

  • Developing and submitting bids for customers
  • Creating pricing models and expanding upon existing frameworks

Transportation:

  • Learn proper dispatching procedures for our transportation division
  • Dive into different transportation segments i.e. Truckload, Drayage, Dedicated Fleets, etc.
  • Experiencing the work of the truck drivers through a hands-on opportunity

Warehousing and Distribution

  • Work on new projects to create efficiency in the warehouse as well as yards across our campuses
  • Learn about the different processes in operations and what value they bring to the company

Coming into the internship, you are not required to know about the trucking industry, but by the end you will understand how the entire process works from bidding on contracts for new business to shipping goods to your favorite stores. This experience is unlike any other, with the ability to dive into real data where your efforts can make an impact on the company.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Working towards a bachelors in: Supply Chain Management, Industrial Systems Engineer, Related Business Major or other related majors (Majors are not viewed heavily, so do not hesitate to apply if you fall out of this scope)
  • Spanish ability is not required but a plus
  • Rising junior or senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong willingness to learn
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
