Adjudication Specialist
The Virginia Department of Health Profession's (DHP) mission is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public.
In order to safeguard the lives, health, and safety of the citizens of the Commonwealth, the Adjudication Specialist provides professional legal support in administering the Agency’s adjudication function by analyzing investigative reports, preparing cases for prosecution, presenting cases at informal and formal hearings, and making adjudication recommendations to Board Administrators.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ability to analyze and evaluate complex data and effectively convey findings orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of legal principles, practices, and processes.
• Ability to effectively manage time and assignments.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of legal/regulatory environment
• Knowledge of the Administrative Process Act
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing health regulatory boards
Additional Considerations
• Demonstrated experience in preparing witnesses for testimony.
• Demonstrated experience in presenting matters in judicial or administrative proceedings
• Demonstrated experience in drafting pleadings or memoranda based on analysis of legal and technical issues and factual reports.
