Senior Manager of Philanthropy

Senior Manager of Philanthropy, Northeast

Remote, in the Northeast region of the United States

 

Summary The Senior Philanthropy Officer, Northeast plays a key role in securing the support Farm Sanctuary needs to accomplish its mission. This position will advance the work of Farm Sanctuary by developing and implementing strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, engagement, and stewardship of 125 mid-level prospects and 75 major individual and foundation donors from an assigned portfolio with a focus on the Northeast region of the United States.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage a regional portfolio of approximately 200 existing individual mid-level and prospective major donors with the capacity to give at the $25,000 level and above using a moves management framework to upgrade or maintain their giving at the major gifts level.
  • Requires travel throughout the Northeast region to conduct face-to-face donor meetings,
  • Work with the Director of Development to track progress toward individual and departmental fundraising goals, supported by the development and implementation of plans and strategies to secure funding for Farm Sanctuary’s operations and programs.
  • Conduct regular in-person and virtual visits, phone calls, emails and text exchanges with prospects and donors to establish and strengthen donor support and engagement.
  • Collaborate with Farm Sanctuary’s program staff to develop meaningful funding and other opportunities aligned with the philanthropic interests of current and prospective major donors.
  • Work closely with Farm Sanctuary’s leadership to foster and deepen major donor relationships, engagement, and support.
  • Support the planning and coordination of fundraising events,.
  • Coordinate with development support and operations teams to ensure effective recordkeeping, reporting, acknowledgment, and follow-up on all gifts.
  • Maintain a deep and ongoing understanding of Farm Sanctuary’s mission, values, and programs.
  • Create and maintain detailed performance reports tracking key metrics including donor retention rates, average gift size, upgrade rates, and moves management progression using Salesforce

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of nonprofit fundraising and relationship management experience, including in Major Gifts, with success in engaging and building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Must be a self-motivated professional who takes initiative, holds a strong work ethic, and has proven success securing major gifts of $25K or higher.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills necessary to tailor messages to various audiences and be an effective representative for Farm Sanctuary.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to set priorities and work independently are essential.
  • Ability to clearly articulate Farm Sanctuary’s mission, goals, and values to donors and prospects.
  • Ability to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate, and refine fundraising strategies and goals.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, the senior leadership team, and board members.
  • ​​Flexibility to work weekends and evenings consistent with a frontline fundraising role.
  • Experience in creating and managing revenue forecasts and donor pipeline analysis.
  • Ability to travel for donor relations meetings and events
  • Experience working with CRM databases.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, and stand for extended periods during the workday.
  • Ability to travel to offsite locations for events, meetings, or donor engagements
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including a computer, keyboard, mouse, and phone.
  • Ability to read printed and digital materials, including reports, emails, and volunteer training materials.
  • Ability to hear and respond effectively during in-person or virtual meetings and phone conversations

 

Job Specifications:

  • Terms of employment: Full-time, exempt position
  • Reports to: Tegan Miller, Interim Director of Development

Direct reports: None

  • Location: Remote, the Northeast region of the United States
  • Pay: Salaried; The estimated salary for this position is $85,000-95,000.  Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to relevant experience.
  • Travel: Regular travel within assigned geographic regions and to sanctuaries for donor visits, and fundraising and community events is required.
