Human Resources and Payroll Manager

General Description:
We are looking for an HR and Payroll Manager who can make our company of a premier employment destination for the top talent in our industry. The HR and Payroll Manager will be responsible for evaluating employee programs, recommending improvements to employee relations policies and ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll of 200+ employees. The successful candidate will be charged with reducing employee turnover at our company and attracting top talent to fill open positions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- New Hires Orientation
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
- Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues
- Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of human capital
- Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization
- Nurture a positive working environment
- Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management
- Maintain benefits program.
- 401(k) administration
- Pay employees by direction of the production of issuance of paychecks and direct deposits
- Maintains payroll information by entering of data and reviewing of timecards.
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
- Maintains accurate employee records
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
- Maintains company guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures
- Gather all information for Workman’s Compensation and GL annual audit.
- Member of the Safety Committee
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of safety-related materials, reports, and presentations.
- Maintain accurate records of safety training sessions, inspections, incidents, and other relevant data.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of safety programs
- Monitor and update safety policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations or organizational needs.
- Communicate safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to employees through various channels, such as email, memos, and meetings.
- Generate reports and metrics on safety performance for management review and decision-making purposes.
- Utilize computer software and databases to maintain and organize safety-related information efficiently.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provide support to other departments as needed or upon request.
Education and Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Human Resources.
- Relevant work experience may be a substitute.
Experience:
- Three to Five Years of Related Experience: Demonstrated experience in a similar role or industry, with a strong track record of performance and responsibility.
- Experience with Job Costing: Proven ability to track and manage costs associated with projects, including monitoring materials used and time charged to ensure accurate budgeting and cost control.
- Accounting Skills and Knowledge: Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, with hands-on experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and using accounting software.

Diversity of Duties:
- Duties require knowledge of the functions and duties of A-1 Chipseal personnel. In order to serve as a liaison between employees and A-1 Chipseal, it is essential for this individual to be familiar with the organization. Duties and actions impact individuals across the company.

In January 2009, A-One Chipseal purchased the assets of Rocky Mountain Pavement Maintenance, Inc. and in September 2022, we purchased the assets of Rocky Mountain Parking Lot Services, Inc. We provide preventive maintenance construction including resurfacing asphalt streets, roads, parking lots and highways and have completed numerous diverse projects for various cities, counties and CDOT across the Front Range.
