Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, In-Person

Compensation Package: $44,000 - $47,500 annually (includes health insurance and 401k match), based on Spanish proficiency and experience

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $37,000 - $40,000 (based on Spanish proficiency and experience)
  • Vacation: 26 paid days (includes holidays & company breaks)

About the Role

The Greenway Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, has been at the heart of Denver’s parks and waterways for over 50 years! 
Join The Greenway Foundation’s SPREE (South Platte River Environmental Education) program as an Environmental Educator! You’ll teach outdoor environmental education for preschool-5th grade students in Denver parks, teach at summer camps, and support community events and youth programs. This is a full-time, in-person position with variable hours based on program bookings. Most programs run weekdays, with occasional evenings and weekends required. All programs take place outdoors in Denver public parks or at local schools. While most programs take place in English or have a few Spanish-speakers present, some programs involve working with monolingual Spanish-speaking children/families. You will be expected to communicate fluently in Spanish as needed. Additional responsibilities include supporting other programs, including but not limited to: excursions, events, camp, youth programs, volunteer opportunities, marketing, and fundraising. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead environmental education field trips and camps in urban Denver public parks
  • Teach and communicate fluently in Spanish & English
  • Manage groups of up to 20 students in outdoor settings
  • Collaborate on programs, events, and marketing efforts

Ideal Candidate:

  • Fluent in English and Spanish  (spoken and written)
  • Experience with elementary students or outdoor/environmental education
  • Ability to create a safe, engaging learning environment
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
  • Culturally competent with underserved communities
  • Organized, adaptable, and team-oriented

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in education or environmental science
  • Bicultural 
  • Nonprofit experience
  • Certified Environmental Educator
  • Experience with middle/high school students
  • Experience with Google Workspace

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation to Denver work locations
  • Ability to walk up to 2 miles, work in water, lift up to 40 lbs
  • Must pass a background check
