Physical Therapy Aide

JOB OVERVIEW: We are a small, fast paced practice in Newport Beach. We treat a diverse demographic from elderly patients to recreational, collegiate and Olympic athletes. Our focus is on individualized treatment plans addressing whole body biomechanics - our philosophy is to not just treat the area of pain but to restore each patient to the highest level of functionality possible.

The Physical Therapy Aides in our clinic are responsible for patient care and assistance in maintaining even flow of the office. This includes organization, clean-up, clerical work, and all other aid as needed under the request of the Physical Therapist (PT).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Aid in the treatment, care, and safety of patients.
· Preparing and maintaining equipment for patient treatments as requested by the PT, including maintaining work areas and supplies.
· Assisting with manual and kinetic therapy as directed by the PT.
· Performing clerical duties such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephones, taking messages, assisting patients with paperwork, and scheduling appointments.
· Communicating with office staff regarding the patient's response to treatment.
· Maintain all patient records confidentiality per HIPAA standards.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocol.
· Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
· Adhere to employer work practices as described in the employee application.
· Keep regular clinic hours as approved by PT.
· Perform other necessary duties as assigned to ensure effective office coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
· Certification/Licensure: BLS & CPR certification for Health Care Providers required.
· Experience: Prior employment in physical therapy clinic preferred, but not required. Physical training, pilates experience, and/or athletic background preferred but not required.

SKILLS:
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
· Familiarity of CPT & ICD-10 coding procedure, will be trained if needed.
· Thorough knowledge of physical therapy principles and practices.
· Working knowledge with computer programs, including Word, Excel, and EMR.
· Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
· Adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to, standards of safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Hearing: Able to perform job duties in person and via telephone.
· Speaking: Communicate clearly and effectively in the English language in person and over the telephone.
· Vision: Adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patients and reading from both printed sources and computer screens.
· Other: Duties include frequent lifting and bending, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, pulling, carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds, and assisting patients when required. Physical ability must be adequate, including sufficient manual dexterity.
