Occupational Therapy Assistant
Essential Functions:
- Consults and assists students (e.g. in activities of daily living(ADL), toileting and personal hygiene programs) for the purpose of implementing IEP plans for remediation of functional limitations.
- Consults with teachers, parents, other personnel and/or outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services and/or making recommendations and participates in IEP’s when designated by OT.
- Instructs and assesses students' fine motor and development skills (e.g. perceptual-motor, motor coordination, sensory development, oral motor, muscle strength, etc.) for the purpose of determining their deficits and developing recommendations by administering and scoring under supervision of OT, standardized and non-standardized assessments.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. quantity reports, student activities, correspondence, internal audits, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
- Screens students for the purpose of determining the need for further individualized assessment. Works in conjunction with staff for the purpose of providing consultative and/or direct assistance to enhance the student’s participation in education.
Minimum Requirements:
- Current certification or licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy Assistant required
- One (1) year of experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant preferred
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
