JC-465189 - Fund Reporting Unit Chief
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of California's diverse people and communities. The Financial Management Division (FMD), within the CDPH Administration Division, is responsible for the preparation, analysis and management of the Department’s budget, maintenance of accounting records and financial data, and acts as the liaison with the Department of Finance (DOF), Legislative Analyst’s Office, Legislative Budget staff, and the federal government on budget and fiscal matters affecting the Department.
The Accounting Administrator I (AAI) (Supervisor) functions as the Chief of the Fund Reporting Unit and is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating all the accounting activity within a complex accounting system for the Department’s funds. Activities include monthly reconciliation between the department’s Fi$Cal records and the State Controller’s Office, posting all journal entries, and research and correction of all reconciling items. Also responsible for the preparation of the annual Year-End Financial Statements, Governmental Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) Adjustments, Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Adjustments and the annual Detailed Fund Balance Reports.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to use Microsoft Excel/Access for different functions.
- FI$CAL and State Accounting procedures knowledge.
- Knowledge of general accounting principles established in/by the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), Board of Control (BOC), and State Controller's Office (SCO).
- Knowledge of accounting policies and procedures published in the State Administrative Manual (SAM), Uniform Codes Manual (UCM), and control agencies such as California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), Department of Finance (DOF), Department of General Services (DGS), and Victims Compensation Government Claims Board (VCGCB)
