Health Science Teacher
South Summit High School is seeking a part-time dedicated and knowledgeable Health Science Teacher to join our faculty and help prepare students for careers in the medical and health-related fields. This is an exciting opportunity to teach in a supportive, community-focused school while developing a strong Health Science program.
Additionally, this teacher will be responsible for establishing and advising a HOSA (Future Health Professionals) chapter, providing students with leadership opportunities, hands-on experiences, and exposure to careers in healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach engaging, hands-on courses in Emergency Medical Responder, Exercise Science, and Medical Anatomy.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Health Science curriculum that prepares students for industry certifications and further education.
- Establish and advise a HOSA chapter, encouraging student participation in leadership events, competitions, and community service projects.
- Incorporate real-world applications, medical case studies, and industry-relevant skills into instruction.
- Work with local healthcare professionals, emergency response teams, and higher education institutions to provide students with career exposure and internship opportunities.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes collaboration, professionalism, and student engagement.
- Assess student learning through hands-on demonstrations, skill assessments, and project-based learning.
- Stay current with trends and advancements in healthcare and medical education to enhance instructional practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and CTE coordinators to align courses with state standards and industry expectations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Utah Teaching License with endorsements in Emergency Medical Responder, Exercise Science, and Medical Anatomy (preferred).
- Experience in health science education, medical training, or related fields.
- Background in healthcare, emergency response, or sports medicine is a plus.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills to establish and run a HOSA chapter
