Summer Day Camp Staff

Join us to work with kids and aircraft this summer at the Hiller Aviation Museum!

Aviation Camp staff members help campers ages 5-12 complete science-themed activities involving model airplanes, real aircraft, flight simulation and more. No special knowledge of aviation required - just an enthusiasm for working with elementary-aged children and a willingness to learn!

Aviation Camp staff members are responsible for teaching and/or supporting all camp activities.

ASSISTANTS are responsible for supporting Aviation Camp in all capacities. Assistants supervise elementary school-aged campers during sign-in, sign-out and break times and coordinate aviation-themed games during breaks. Assistants also prepare materials and work directly with instructors as needed during hands-on projects and activities. Assistant starting pay range is $19.25-$22.00/hr based on experience, education and any applicable certifications.

INSTRUCTORS are responsible for leading all Aviation Camp activities. Instructors prepare lessons using provided curricula, materials, exhibits and other resources. Instructors supervise elementary and middle-school aged campers during sign-in, sign-out and break times, lead lessons, and maintain a safe classroom environment at all times. Instructor starting pay range is $23.00 – $26.00/hr depending on experience, education and any applicable certifications.

All applicants must have experience working with elementary or middle school children. Instructor candidates must possess additional teaching experience (in or out of a classroom) and demonstrate superior group management techniques. Aviation Camp runs June 2 – August 29 with mandatory training on June 7 and 8 from 8 AM to 5 PM both days. Applicants should have availability for at least eight weeks of the summer, or the entire period July 14 – August 15 in order to be considered.

Positions/shifts vary each week with enrollment; Most Instructor shifts are full-time and typically last 8 AM – 5 PM. Most Assistant shifts are half-day and range from 8 AM – 1:30 PM or 12 PM – 5:30 PM with opportunity for extension to full day.
