Brighter Days Counseling – New Jersey

We are seeking a Licensed Therapist who brings warmth, empathy, and expertise to support children and families in a private practice setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop individualized treatment plans for children, adolescents, and families.
  • Provide therapy using evidence-based modalities in a supportive, professional, and empathetic environment.
  • Facilitate individual therapy for children and adolescents, as well as family therapy as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with insurance requirements.
  • Maintain a minimum of 10 clinical hours per week, working Monday- Friday between 2 PM – 8 PM and/or weekend hours of your choice.
  • Commit to at least two client days per week to ensure consistent client care and prevent burnout.
  • Respond to client inquiries and emails within 24 hours.
  • Maintain licensure, training, and supervision requirements in accordance with New Jersey state regulations.
  • Engage in self-reflection, open communication, and feedback-driven professional growth.
  • Participate in weekly marketing efforts to build your caseload—while referrals will be provided, active self-promotion is expected. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and continuous clinical development.
  • Independently manage time and caseload while maintaining professionalism and accountability.
  • Embrace themes of mindfulness, self-compassion, bravery, and vulnerability in both personal and professional growth.
  • Show a strong interest in Child Development, Attachment Theory, Trauma, ADHD, Executive Functioning, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and working with children with Developmental Disabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or Marriage & Family Therapy.
  • At least two years of post-graduate experience in settings such as outpatient mental health, group or private practice, inpatient units, partial hospitalization, or IOP programs.
  • Active licensure in New Jersey as an LAC, LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist (PA licensure is a plus).
  • Minimum two years of experience working with children (under 10) and adolescents.
  • Strong background or interest in Play Therapy, Theraplay, Sand Tray, Child-Centered Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Trauma Play, AutPlay, or DIR Floortime.
  • Experience working with Neurodiverse populations and Developmental Disabilities or a willingness to learn.
