Meadows Center IT Assistant | Work Study
The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment at Texas State University is dedicated to inspiring research, leadership and innovation that ensures clean, abundant water for the environment and all humanity. The Meadows Center is seeking a student worker to assist the Technical Support Person (TSP) and the Deputy Director of Spring Lake Education with a variety of tasks that focus on the technological needs of the center including maintenance, support, and repair.
Qualifications
Applicants must have work-study. Applicants must have superior interpersonal skills including dependability, responsibility, motivation, time management, organization, excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow directions. Experience and comfort-ability with basic software programs and diagnosing technology errors is preferred.
General Description
Responsible for providing assistance with the Meadows Center technology support and needs.
Schedule
Applicants must be available during the times of 8:00am -5:00pm Mon – Fri with a minimum of 4-hour blocks per scheduled shift. Morning or afternoon shifts are preferred. Working 1-2 shifts on the weekend can substitute for a weekday shift.
Job Requirements
- Must be able to work 3-4 shifts during the normal work week
- Must have experience working in an office setting
- Must have great customer service skills, self-motivated, and a willingness to learn
- Must be proficient in Microsoft programs
- Texas State Parking Pass is required if you plan to drive to work
- Must have a reliable method of getting to work
Job Duties
- Maintain and update a master inventory of computers and technology resources, including educational exhibits in Spring Lake Hall.
- Respond promptly to provide basic IT support for networked Windows computers including printer and display connections and software updates.
- Use the following applications to support organizational goals: Zoom, Open Broadcaster Software, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe CC Suite.
- Provide limited IT support for a small range of Linux applications in embedded exhibit media systems.
- Investigate and evaluate software and hardware.
- Communicate well with coworkers and supervisors. Request help when needed. Contact ITAC for issues requiring outside support.
- Meaningfully contribute to completion of projects through independent work.
- Learn about Spring Lake and The Meadows Center’s educational goals.
Location

Employee Evaluation Process
Employees will be evaluated on their work output and ethic. Employees will be required to attend all scheduled shifts unless prior communication has been made with their direct supervisor. All employees are required to follow university policy and procedures.
Pay Rate Determination
This pay rate of this position begins at $14. Experience may result in a higher rate if deemed appropriate by the Spring Lake Management.
Direct Supervisor
This position is directly supervised by the TSP of the Meadows Center and the Deputy Director of Spring Lake Education.
