Sand Sculpture Contest - Intern

The Grand Haven Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is looking for an enthusiastic intern to assist with the planning and marketing of the 42nd Annual Sand Sculpture Contest - Saturday, June 14, 2025.

About the event:

The 42nd Annual Sand Sculpture Contest is scheduled for Saturday, June 14 from 9am-2pm. This event will take place at Grand Haven City Beach, as it has for many years. Friends, families, companies, and individuals will all be competing to create the best, most unique sand sculptures. Participants will have approximately two and a half hours before their sculptures are judged and prizes are awarded. Residents and visitors are welcome to participate, or simply enjoy spectating this event along the beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline.

The Grand Haven Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), the producers of this event, are excited to see what unique sand sculptures this year's participants will create. With each year's contest comes a variety of new ideas and sculptures as participants' sand sculpting skills are put to the test. Each year is unique, making this annual event new and exciting each year.

The Sand Sculpture Contest is held on the Saturday before Father's Day. This event takes advantage of Grand Haven's prime location to host a sand sculpting contest on the Lake Michigan shoreline. The goal of this event is to create a fun opportunity for the community, family, friends, and companies to come together and spend time outside in friendly competition.

Imagine being surrounded by sun, surf, and sandcastles! The Sand Sculpture Contest is a fun way for contestants to put their sand sculpting skills to the test! This family-friendly event gives participants time to create their masterpiece before local celebrity judges observe their work and crowns the newest royalty of the sand castle creation.

A select intern will have the opportunity to help plan one of the Grand Haven's most treasured events.

Responsibilities include event management, blogging, social media management, sponsorship procurement, assisting with event marketing, volunteer recruitment and working with the CVB director and staff on overall event planning, logistics, day of event management, and more.

This internship runs March 7, 2025 - June 27, 2025.
