Backend JavaScript Engineer

Are you a backend JavaScript engineer that wants to have an impact on the world while working at a recently funded, scaling startup? If you answered yes to all the questions above, AnswersNow may be the company for you. We are looking for a backend JavaScript engineer that can translate requirements into a world-class product.

What you'll do

  • Create positive, impactful improvements to the AnswersNow product; with a major focus on backend services and functionality.
  • Your day-to-day work will include working closely with the Engineering Manager and Principal Engineer as well as mentoring other engineers.
  • Our current tech stack includes Node.js, Express.js, React,  PostgreSQL, ECS, S3, Lambda, and other AWS services.
  • Work in an agile team to deliver frequent iterations, including individual and collaborative work.
  • Perform and participate in PR reviews, technical discussions, and requirement elaboration activities.
  • Pair, share, and mentor with other developers on the team and other stakeholders on other teams.
  • Occasional production support on rotation.
  • Contribute high-quality work while being adaptive to frequent change.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in building full-stack software applications with JavaScript
  • Strong experience in relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • 3+ years working and configuring a cloud computing system such as AWS, Google Cloud or something similar.
  • Previous experience in TypeScript is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a full-stack or backend engineering role.
  • Experience in technical leadership of an engineering team is a bonus.
  • Strong foundation in programming, algorithms, and software application design
  • Passion for solving challenging problems and iterating quickly
  • Previous start-up experience is a definite plus!
