Intern, Semiconductor Automation Programmer

At Renesas, we design, develop and manufacture leading-edge semiconductor solutions for our customers. Our team is looking to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) to modernize and transform the way we approach automation in our manufacturing processes. We are seeking a motivated and driven computer science student to join us for a summer internship, where you will have the opportunity to apply your skills in AI and machine learning to real-world manufacturing challenges.

Job Description: As a Summer Intern at Renesas, you will be working alongside a team of engineers to develop AI-driven solutions that enhance automation in our manufacturing systems. You will gain hands-on experience in applying AI and machine learning techniques to improve processes such as quality control, production optimization, and resource management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to understand current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for AI implementation.
  • Assist in the design, development, and deployment of AI models and algorithms to automate and optimize production systems.
  • Support the integration of AI tools into existing manufacturing systems and workflows.
  • Conduct data analysis to assess the performance of AI models and recommend improvements.
  • Document and present findings to the team.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and libraries.
  • Experience with data analysis and machine learning model development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong interest in AI applications in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • US Person due to ITAR requirements

Preferred Skills (not required but a plus):

  • Knowledge of automation systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
