Legal Secretary

Small Law Firm, focusing primarily in Family Law, looking for a secretary or legal secretary.

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Calendar management: Scheduling appointments, meetings, and court appearances for attorneys and clients. 
  • Document preparation: Typing and formatting legal documents such as contracts, letters, briefs, and court filings. 
  • Transcription: Transcribing dictation from attorneys, including meeting notes and legal proceedings. 
  • Proofreading and editing: Ensuring accuracy and proper legal formatting of documents. 
  • File management: Maintaining organized client files, both electronically and physically. 
  • Client communication: Answering phone calls, taking messages, and directing inquiries to appropriate parties. 
  • Court filing: Preparing and submitting legal documents to the court. 

 

Skills and qualifications for a legal secretary role:

  • Strong typing and computer skills: Proficiency in word processing software, legal practice management systems, and email. 
  • Attention to detail: Accuracy in handling legal documents and maintaining precise records. 
  • Excellent communication skills: Clear and concise communication both verbally and in writing. 
  • Organizational skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain a structured workflow. 
  • Confidentiality: Maintaining client privacy and sensitive information. 

 

Compensation commensurate with experience.
