Media Specialist - Summer Overnight Camp

Are you a photography and videography whiz with a passion for storytelling? We're looking for two Media Leads to capture the unforgettable moments of Camp Classen!  As our Media Leads, you'll document the summer's adventures through stunning photos and videos, uploading photos daily and creating an end-of-week video for camp families to treasure. You'll work closely with our Senior Director and Program Team to ensure all content aligns with Camp Classen's values. Previous experience in photography and videography is a must. Beyond your core duties, you'll dive into the full camp experience, participating in camp life and assisting in other program areas as needed. Our summer camp staff will help support the work we do at the YMCA, by helping create a positive, nurturing environments for all our campers and staff. They will also help each camper reach their fullest potential and deepen their connections as part of their overall camp experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Capture pictures and videos daily of campers and camp activities and produce an end of week video each week.
  • Create 40, 30 to 90 second videos showing different aspects of camp life to be scheduled to post on social media throughout the school year, working with our Camp Registrar
  • Maintain a professional online presence for material prepared for YMCA Camp Classen through social media and other platforms.
  • Provide a safe environment for children
  • Dedication to job, camp participants and the YMCA cause.
  • Must be able to self-regulate your emotions in a fast-paced community environment
  • Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  • Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff.
  • Models’ relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Maintain appearance of camp through cleanliness and set-up, with a "It's My Camp" attitude.
  • Attend all Scheduled staff meetings and Trainings
  • Display YMCA character values (Honesty, caring, respect, and responsibilities at all times.)
  • Housing provided and will live with campers and help with supervision ratio.
  • Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events with the support staff team.
  • Models' relationship-building skills for campers and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • One to two years related experience preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe - Premiere Pro, After effects and Animate, photoshop and video editing and a wide range of equipment.
  • Must have an interest in working with youth and exemplify and support the YMCA philosophy.
  • Certifications: CPR, AED & First Aid. (We provide this as part of staff training week)
  • Must complete Red Woods Online Training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.

COMPENSATION AND AMENITIES:

  • Starting pay $300.00 per week
  • Housing is provided for the summer.
  • Camp Shirts are provided.
  • Meals are provided when dining hall is open.
  • All training certification cost and time are paid for.
  • Free laundry facilities and Wi-Fi are located in or near staff housing.
