Summer Administrative Intern
The Lanesboro Arts Summer Administrative Intern will work directly with the Program Director and Executive Director on a broad range of communications & events activities in an active and innovative non-profit setting. The Administration Intern gains hands-on experience creating effective and impactful communications, including news releases, storytelling videos, and physical marketing materials. This position will assist in coordinating and promoting the summer youth education programs. The intern will also assist in grant research/ proposal writing, memberships data entry, creating and maintaining organizational systems, and general administrative work. This position will assist in developing and executing place-based programs (such as Art in the Park or the Artist Residency Program). Strong writing skills, or a desire to develop them, are a must.
For this position, the applicant's focus of study could be Mass Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Art, English, Business, education, Theatre Production, etc.; however, any applicant with an interest in non-profit administration may apply. Skills and experience that would be beneficial for this position include: WordPress website maintenance, Photoshop/ graphic design, creative writing, copywriting, social media platforms, technical audio & video equipment use, event organizing/production, and video editing. Customer service or teaching experience would be especially useful. Desired attributes include; self-motivation, creative problem solving, ability to improvise, ability to multitask, ability to accomplish technical and detailed tasks, desire to learn and develop new skills, and openness to meeting new people and collaborating across sectors. The applicant should have an interest in using art to address community challenges and a passion for the role of art in culture in building resilient rural communities.
Schedule/Compensation/Housing:
- 11 weeks. Includes 4 vacation days within this time.
- Start date negotiable. Ideally, the intern would begin on Tuesday, May 13th or Tuesday, May 20th, 2025.
- Full time (40 hrs/week): hours will be mostly during the workday from 10 am - 5 pm, however interns will be expected to work some weekend and evening events as per a flexible pre-arranged schedule.
- $2,000 total stipend for the summer.
- Lanesboro Arts will provide housing in Lanesboro, MN during the 11 week internship.
