Mechanical Design Engineer Project Manager
SUMMARY
Estimates, plans, and designs mechanical process skids and electromechanical parts, products and systems associated with industrial equipment and monitors activities involved in the fabrication of products and systems. Provide electrical or mechanical system design efforts from inception through production by performing routine to moderately complex electrical design tasks requiring the use of CAD and/or Solidworks and peripheral equipment by preparing clear, complete and accurate layouts, detailed drawings, assembly drawings and diagrams. Details to include all views and dimensions necessary for manufacture of electrical control panels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with customer to develop build to print or basic design drawings per customer specifications. May review customer control drawings, specification control drawings and other specifications to determine requirements and/or feasibility of the control panel(s).
Utilizes sketches and data submitted to create and revise production drawings (detail and assembly drawings) ensuring the drawings convey the correct information.
Creates layout of control panels
Makes final sketch of proposed drawing.
Creates designs and detailed Bill of Material.
Establishes drawing and documentation requirements for specific projects; resolves technical problems; analyzes design concepts as to manufacturing feasibility and alters detail and layout drawings to conform to engineering changes.
Interacts closely with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing/design issues and makes any changes necessary during the fabrication process.
Participates in engineering and general design reviews as required. Refines and completes designs after review meetings.
Prepares proposal documentation.
Prepares technical data such as Operator’s Manual, qualification test procedures, acceptance test procedures, reports, maintenance manuals, etc.
Coordinates as required with internal groups including purchasing, quality control, sales, production, accounting, etc.
Read client RFQs including P&IDs, PFDs, process descriptions and equipment specifications.
Develop Bill of Material (BOM) including equipment, valves, instruments, piping and structural materials in accordance with client specifications.
Research and solicit component cost and availability.
Work with Electrical Systems staff to develop electrical scope of work.
Assess labor hours required for design and fabrication.
Develop total system cost and selling price and review with management.
Produce formal proposal to client including detailed descriptions of scope of work.
REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Technology), or related field. Solidworks, AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical; Prefer Control Panel Design and Layout Experience. PLC Application, programming a plus; HMI Application, programming a plus; VFD Application a plus. Associates degree with two years experience will be considered.
This job operates in a professional environment, is full-time and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Occasional travel to customer site visits may be necessary.
