Photography/Marketing Intern

Position Overview

As a Photography/Marketing Intern, you are critical in our work of providing equitable access to the outdoors. Not only do you help us build relationships with our current families, but your work helps us connect new families and schools to our program. You will capture images throughout camp to be used in promotional materials, social media, and shared with camper families. You will also get mentorship from our Communications Director, who oversees photography, marketing, and communications for all 3 sites of the American Youth Foundation. 

Responsibilities

  • Capturing original photography that fits within brand guidelines. Photography will include action shots of campers doing activities, cabin photos, camper headshots, and more.
  • Create and follow a schedule for obtaining content in a variety of areas throughout camp.
  • Cull, edit, and upload photos 3x/week to share with camper families and be tagged for marketing materials.
  • Meet weekly with Communications Director about photography needs and feedback.
  • Positively interact with campers ages 8-18 and be a strong role model within the community, demonstrating integrity and compassion for all people.

Work Environment and Compensation

  • June 15- August 9
  • $3880 for the season
  • Rustic environment- housing will be in cabins or shared dorm space with shared bath houses
  • Will be expected to be on your feet several hours each day and able to move across rugged terrain
  • DSLR camera, hard drives, and computer will be provided, but interns may bring additional equipment (extra lenses, laptops, photo editing software, hard drives, etc.) but these are not required

Required Skills

  • Problem-solving and strong interpersonal skills are essential to get the images required
  • Skilled at operating a digital SLR and be familiar with the fundamentals of digital photography (photo formats, resolution, uploading files.)
  • Strong computer and organizational skills are essential
  • Self-starter who can maintain a positive attitude in all types of working conditions
  • Previous professional experience is not required, but applicants will be asked to present a portfolio that demonstrates their skills
  • Perform your duties both inside and outside, rain or shine
  • Work cooperatively with your peers and divisional leadership
  • Manage self-care and maintain personal physical and emotional stamina, so you can take care of others (adequate sleep, activity, nutrition, mental acuity, managing emotions)
  • Maintain physical and emotional stamina
  • Commit to inclusion and acceptance of others
  • Possess the ability to think on your feet and manage emergent situations should they arise
