Elementary School Principal

St. Mary Catholic School, Edwardsville, Illinois is seeking an elementary school Principal.  St. Mary currently educates 233 Pre-K through 8th grade students.  The principal is responsible for the overall operation and management of the school.  The Principal must be a spiritual and visionary leader for our faculty, staff, and parish/school community.

Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be a practicing Catholic who understands and accepts the teachings and disciplines of the Catholic Church.
  • Applicants must hold a Master's Degree preferably in Administration (Type 75) or be willing to work towards it.
  • Candidates should have strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The principal, as the administrative head of the school, will seek to coordinate and implement the education program consistent with Diocesan policies and guidelines.
  • The principal will create an environment that promotes the Catholic Faith and moral teachings of our faith.
  • Ensures the implementation of a comprehensive curriculum through the use of a variety of pedagogical strategies.
  • Hires, supervises, evaluates, and terminates all faculty and staff according to diocesan guidelines.
  • Identifies and effects needed change for school improvement.
  • Understands and implements policies and procedures of Diocese of Springfield in Illinois as well as relevant federal and state education guidelines.
  • Manages school budget and supervises all expenditures.
  • Formulate annual goals, objectives, and strategic plans in collaboration with the Pastor. 

Salary of $60,000-$80,000 based on experience, credentials, and Diocese recommendation.
