Business Development Manager

The New Business Development Manager (BDM) for Bliss Dairy plays a pivotal role in driving sales growth within the foodservice sector across the New England region. This position is responsible for identifying, qualifying, and cultivating new sales leads to enhance the distribution of Bliss Premium Ice Cream products, including tubs and mixes, to independent scoop shops and catering services. The BDM will develop and implement strategic sales plans, track progress using CRM tools, and establish strong relationships with key decision-makers. Additionally, this role involves achieving sales targets, improving product availability in various channels, and representing Bliss Dairy at industry events. The ideal candidate will possess excellent sales skills, a proactive approach to business development, and a strong desire to contribute to the company's market expansion efforts.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Sales Strategy Development: Create and execute a daily sales plan focused on prospecting, cold calling, networking, and referrals to build relationships with decision-makers and close profitable new accounts.

- Lead Tracking: Utilize the Monday.com (CRM) platform CRM platform to document and track progress on account leads and business activities daily.

- Market Exploration: Identify and actively pursue opportunities within the assigned territory, establishing and maintaining effective communication with decision-makers of target accounts.

- Sales Goals Achievement: Meet and exceed area sales volume and revenue targets assigned by the VP of New Business Development or the General Manager.

- Product Distribution: Enhance the availability of Bliss Premium Ice Cream tubs and other products in various distribution points, including scoop shops and foodservice providers.

- Collaboration: Work collaboratively across teams to improve distribution and increase overall sales within the market.

- Compliance: Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including Dress Code and Alcohol and Controlled Substance policies.

- Customer Engagement: Ensure timely follow-up and response to customer needs, fostering long-term relationships.

- Field Representation: Actively represent Bliss Dairy at trade shows and industry events as determined by management.

- Reporting: Share insights and findings from the field with the VP of New Business Development to inform strategy.

- Additional Duties: Perform other related projects and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Skills/Qualifications

- Proven track record in business-to-business sales, particularly within the foodservice industry (minimum of two years preferred).

- Ability to work independently while demonstrating excellent sales and interpersonal skills.

- Self-motivated and driven to grow business with new customers.

- Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and the NEICC team.

- Strong cold-calling skills and ability to close sales.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and capable of using CRM software effectively.

- Must possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and current automobile insurance.

 

Physical Demands

- Ability to stand, sit, walk, and move around the facility for extended periods.

- Requires travel by car and on foot approximately four to five days per week.

- Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.

Working Environment

  • Field work as well as internal office work environments. Extensive field work with visits to various establishments and freezer/back-room-kitchen environments.
  • Exposure to moderate noise.

Travel

- Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, registration, and proof of minimum insurance requirements.

- Frequent travel required within the assigned territory and to NEIC headquarters.
